Fall Latine TV Preview: New & Returning Shows to Check Out

Fall Latine TV 2024

Fall is here, and that doesn’t just mean great weather, pumpkin spice, and spooky vibes, but also fall TV. Traditionally the time when network TV premiered new shows, fall is still when most of the best shows start making their mark. But with so much new TV to watch, it’s hard to know what deserves our attention. So, we’ve put together a list of the must-watch new and returning shows coming this fall featuring Latine talent, so you know what is absolutely worth your time as you’re trying to make sense of the countless options. Here, in order of premiere date, are the shows you cannot miss:

English Teacher, FX

English Teacher
Premiere Date: September 2. New episodes airing on Mondays

Up first on our list of fall Latine TV is FX’s English Teacher. This hilarious comedy, led by Brian Jordan Alvarez, focuses on an English teacher in Austin, Texas who is just trying to navigate being who he is – a gay Latino man – but who keeps finding that, even in 2024, and surrounded by people who have his back, that’s not always as easy as it sounds. Yes, English Teacher is another funny teacher show. But no, it’s not Abbott Elementary.

High Potential, ABC

HIGH POTENTIAL - ABC’s “High Potential” stars Judy Reyes as Selena, Javicia Leslie as Daphne, Deniz Akdeniz as Lev ‘Oz’ Osman, Daniel Sunjata as Karadec, Kaitlin Olson as Morgan, Amirah J as Ava, and Matthew Lamb as Elliot. (Disney/Pamela Littky)
Premiere Date: September 17. New episodes airing Tuesdays

Being the smartest person in the room isn’t always as easy as it sounds. Especially not when you’re just the cleaning lady. In this new ABC procedural, lead character Morgan ends up being recruited by Judy Reyes’ Selena to help the police department solve crimes. Morgan, of course, ends up being a breath of fresh air, even if her by-the-book partner Selena might take a while to be convinced.

Agatha All Along, Disney+

Premiere Date: September 16. New episodes streaming on Wednesdays

If you watched WandaVision and wondered, well… what happened to Agatha Harkness, here’s your answer. Because all witches deserve to have their story told. Even Agatha. And sometimes, those stories might be more complicated than one might have thought. Every “villain” has a backstory after all. And this one stars one of our own, Aubrey Plaza, making it a perfect fall Latine TV show to catch.

9-1-1, ABC

9-1-1 - ABC’s “9-1-1” stars Oliver Stark as Evan “Buck” Buckley, Jennifer Love Hewitt as Maddie Kendall, Kenneth Choi as Howie “Chimney” Han, Angela Bassett as Athena Grant, Peter Krause as Bobby Nash, Aisha Hinds as Henrietta “Hen” Wilson, Gavin McHugh as Christopher Diaz, and Ryan Guzman as Eddie Diaz. (Disney/Justin Stephens)
Premiere Date: September 26. New episodes airing Thursdays

One of the biggest shows on TV is a procedural starring a Latino, Ryan Guzman. If there’s an emergency, who do you call? Well, 9-1-1. This show follows the first responders that come when you need help. Half heartfelt, half ridiculous, 9-1-1 is perfect to binge or catch a stray episode of. Maybe that’s why it’s going into Season 8 and shows no sign of slowing down.

It’s all about making up for lost time, even if George and Mayan hardly ever see eye to eye. What matters is that, in the end, the two love each other.
